Nursery Room Supervisor – Full Time Permanent Role
A fabulous career vacancy has arisen for a Room Supervisor to join our team on a full time basis (40 hours a week). The ideal candidate will be qualified in childcare at least to Level 3 in a childcare discipline. Hours are 40 a week, and will be between 7.30am and 6.15pm, Monday to Friday on a rota basis including the ability to work the entire shift, and differing shifts each week (Rotas notified 2 – 3 weeks in advance). The Nursery is open 52 weeks a year with the exception of bank holidays. We are seeking candidates with a genuine desire and passion to influence children’s learning, and can use their initiative to provide children with fun in their learning. You must also be able to demonstrate team management capabilities as the role involves supervising up to 7 members of staff across our Babies and Two’s Rooms. You will have a small amount of key children, and will at times (holiday cover) be required to take responsibility for the whole setting. Whilst undertaking the role, you will be working with a team of colleagues providing care and education to our children in an enabling and stimulating environment. You will be expected to have a ‘can do’ attitude, and be prepared to do whatever it takes to ensure the smooth running of the nursery.
You must also be able to demonstrate an ability to relate to young children and their needs, leading your team to do the same, and be flexible in your approach. Communicating effectively with parents, management and other professionals is also a key part of the role. Your role would be to work alongside our existing Practitioners, providing the highest quality of care for the children, and ensuring that you are a key member of the team in delivering the very best for children’s learning and development. You will also provide critical support to the team, using your initiative and experience to add value to each child’s day. You will be required to work across the Nursery with a variety of age groups. You must be able to demonstrate that you can make a difference to children’s learning.
To work with our existing team members leading our Babies and Two’s Rooms, as well as assisting across the Nursery where required, including taking charge of the setting at times, delivering the very best in childcare and education to children aged between 3 months and 4 years. To take guidance and instruction from The Manager and Deputy Manager, and work with colleagues to provide the very best level of care for our children. To take ideas from the team for learning and planning, and have a robust system in place to demonstrate learning and development in accordance with the EYFS and use initiative, including making entries in children’s learning journeys, and supporting other team members in their assessment of children where appropriate. You will be expected to undertake additional duties or whatever it takes to ensure the smooth running of the nursery and the continuity of care for all children. You will ensure the safety and well being of all children in your care, and report concerns to your line manager. Communicating with colleagues, parents, management and external professionals such as speech therapists etc to ensure the best possible outcomes for children in our care is also key. You will also plan next steps for development across your team, conduct supervisions/one to ones, and work well with the management team and other colleagues in engendering a positive and welcoming atmosphere for everyone in the nursery, and promote our ethos.
In view of working with children, an enhanced DBS check is required, you must not therefore have any convictions or cautions previous or current, that are relevant when working with children. The new DBS check also requires the candidate to register for the live updates on the system. A genuine desire to work with children is also paramount. Pride in your work, and the ability to work as part of a dedicated team are also key. You must be committed to undertake any other necessary training with our approved training provider. A commitment to study in your own time, and keep up to date with modern practice, and the changes to the EYFS is essential.
