Come & Join Our Christmas Party

We’ll be having our Christmas Party at Nursery on Wednesday 15th December at 3pm.  Father Christmas has managed to fit us into his busy schedule, and will be paying us a visit.  If your child doesn’t normally attend on this day, you are welcome to come along with them and join in the fun.  We will make a small charge of £9.50 in order to provide your child with a gift from Santa, and a party tea for you and your child.  If your child normally attends on this day then there will be no additional charge for the Christmas Party.  We have only limited spaces for children to attend the party, so please book your place with us now.  Please don’t pay on the day.  We will invoice you in the usual way for payment.

Thank you for helping Children In Need

We had a fabulous time at our Pyjama party in aid of Children in Need recently, and managed to raise a fantastic £68.  Thank you for all your support in raising funds for a cause very close to our hearts.  We had lots of fun coming to Nursery in our pyjamas, and enjoyed the games, baking and other fun things that made it such a great day for all of the children.  We couldn’t have done it without the support of all of you!

Happy Christmas Holidays

We want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas  and a Happy New Year from Ruth, Kathy, Hannah, Penny, Sam, Emma, Heather, Jane Harriet, and Andrew.   We hope that you all enjoy a lovely family break, and we look forward to spending many more special times with you and your children in the New Year.  Nursery closes at 4pm on Christmas Eve and will reopen at 7.30am on Tuesday 4th January 2011.  It’s been a fabulous year, and 2011 looks to be even more exciting with lots more children joining us very soon.

Mums have a well deserved night out!

We had a great time at our very first Mum’s night a few weeks ago.  It was great to see so many of our mums venture out for our Virgin Vie Party.  A fun time was had by all, and there were some fabulous prizes on offer.  It was a great opportunity for some of the mums to meet each other, and also have some time to let their hair down and think about pampering themselves with some lovely Virgin Vie products.  Thanks for coming.  We’re glad you enjoyed it, and of course will be planning another!  We think these mums nights and dads nights should be a regular feature!

Enjoy an evening at the races and raise some funds for our garden area

Please come and join us in February for our Race Evening at Escrick Village Hall.  Tickets will be on sale soon, and we hope to raise some more funds for our garden area.  We did some fantastic improvements last year, but we consider that this is a continual thing and we always want to try and improve our facility.  What we would especially like to do is built an outdoor canopy that will allow us further all weather access to the garden.  Our fantastic ideas can only be achieved through us raising some funds, and what better way to do it, than by having a fabulous night out!.  We’ll be selling tables of 8 or 10 as well as individual tickets, and looking for local businesses to sponsor each race for us.  We’re also looking for parent volunteers to help us with our event preparation.  If you can spare some time, contacts, or anything else, then please get in touch.  We want to make it another memorable night like last year’s ball, and are still looking for a charismatic compere for the evening!

Young Discoverers Children’s T Shirts – Orders being taken now

We are now able to offer Young Discoverers T Shirts for children in two designs.  All T Shirts are yellow in colour, with design 1 having the Young Discoverers lightbulb logo embroidered on the left breast, and the words ‘I’m a Young Discoverer’ printed across the back in green.  Design 2 will have just a front print with the Young Discoverers logo and the words ‘I’m a Young Discoverer’ in green underneath.  Design 1 will cost £8.50 each, and design 2 will cost £6.50 each.  T Shirts are available in all sizes from 0-3 months right through to 5 years.  If you would like to order a T Shirt from us, please pick up an order form from nursery.  We expect to take our first delivery early in the new year so will be taking orders up until Christmas.  We do hope that the children like them, and that we see a few of them around nursery in the New Year.  Ideal for all that messy play, and completely washable!

Did you know?….

According to a US study, mothers who return to work before their child’s first birthday, do not harm their development.  Dr Han, associate professor at Columbia said, “We found little or no evidence that first-year maternal employment affected child attachment.  The more important factors are those related to the quality of parenting and children’s experiences of childcare.”  The research followed children from 10 sites across the US from birth to age seven.  Dr Brooks-Gunn for the National Center for Children & Families said “The new data from this study should alleviate some of the parental concerns about the negative effects maternal working might have on child outcomes.
