- Comic Relief
- Save the Children Jumper appeal
- Help for Heroes
- Cancer Research Campaign (Race for Life)
Our Director and Nursery Manager have also been involved in other Community Projects. Kathy also has a keen interest in our future generation of Nursery Practitioners, and has been a volunteer at Selby College contributing to training for those undertaking their BTEC qualifications in childcare to understand the practicalities of applying for jobs.
In house, we work closely with a number of training providers including York Learning and Selby College to ensure a highly qualified workforce. Whilst in our employment and with our support, staff have undertaken the following qualifications:
- Level 3 Playwork
- Level 2 Childcare Diploma
- Level 3 Children and Young People’s Workforce Diploma
- Early Years Educator Level 3
- Level 5 Foundation Degree
- Level 4 Childcare, Learning and Development
- Level 2 Apprenticeship
- Level 3 Apprenticeship
- Level 3 Management Diploma
- Level 5 Management Diploma
All of our staff are qualified to Level 2 in the 12 hour Paediatric First Aid Certificate, which is renewed every 3 years. A large number of the team are also qualified to level 2 Food Safety, which is regularly renewed. Those joining us without a Childcare qualification are encouraged to study for one, and receive mentoring support from a senior colleague, along with the opportunity to meet their tutor in the setting, and undertake learning tasks as part of their course whilst they work. This has resulted in a stable and dedicated team who value working for Young Discoverers, and the career progression this brings.
