Due to increased occupancy at our Children’s Day Nursery, a vacancy has arisen for NURSERY APPRENTICE to join our fantastic team. The successful applicant will be fully supported in their training to gain the Level 3 Early Years Educator Qualification. Working with our nominated training provider who comes to the setting to see you during your working hours to observe you, and provide you with support for your studies, you also have a nominated Mentor in the setting who will be able to assist you on a day to day basis too. We pride ourselves on ensuring that our successful Apprentices are able to continue their employment with us on successful completion of the qualification, the training lasting approximately 18 months. Working hours are between 7.30am and 6.15pm Monday to Friday with the exception of bank holidays, on a rota basis, and applicants must have the ability to work the whole shift. Uniform, discount on childcare, 2% workplace pension contribution, paid training and other staff benefits are all offered as part of the role.
At Young Discoverers we aim to provide the highest quality of care and education for all the children in our setting. Our Ofsted inspection gained a “Good “rating in January 2017, and it is our aim to continue to develop and reach an “Outstanding “grade in the future. We engender an atmosphere where children and their families are respected and valued and all children are provided with an atmosphere where they are encouraged to investigate, explore, have fun and flourish. We expect our Apprentices to develop a thorough understanding of the principals of the EYFS and Ofsted regulations and be competent in recording assessing and planning for the development of the children, and be confident in working in close partnership with parents and other professionals. We expect our Apprentices to be enthusiastic, caring, respectful, professional and supportive and to undertake additional and continual learning in order to extend their skills base, and keep up to date with modern practice, and necessary qualifications for the role.

If you are allocated a key group of children, you will be responsible for compiling their learning journeys and building a relationship with parents through effective communication. You will ensure that a variety of observations are carried out on these children, and work closely with parents in sharing each child’s developmental progress, along with plans for next steps, referring and linking to the various aspects of the EYFS. During your training as an Apprentice you will be supported by a mentor, and your course tutor to ensure you are able to undertake these responsibilities, and provide the very best care for the children in your care.

You must keep the environment stimulating and inviting with displays of work etc, and offer a variety of activities, materials and toys to encourage learning, and develop children’s interests. You must work as part of a dynamic team, reporting to the room supervisor, and taking instruction and direction from more senior colleagues. We expect all staff to conduct themselves in a professional and friendly manner, engendering a positive and welcoming atmosphere at all times, respecting the needs of children, their parents, and other colleagues, as well as understanding also the need to promote the setting to ensure you achieve 100% customer retention amongst your key group of children.
